Deputies with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station are still investigating a report of a gunshot being heard at the Westfield Valencia Mall Saturday night, which resulted in the mall being evacuated.
At 6:40 p.m. deputies responded to the Westfield Mall on Valencia Boulevard after receiving reports of gunshots fired, according to a post by the SCV Sheriff’s Station Twitter.
Saturday 11/26/22, deputies responded to the Westfield mall on the 24100 block of Valencia Blv. in Valencia at approx. 6:40pm regarding reports of gun shots fired. The mall was evacuated as a precaution and deputies remained on scene. Deputies searched the mall and concluded that there was no active shooter threat.
“The incident appears to be an accidental discharge of a firearm,” states the official post. “However, the investigation remains ongoing.”
No injuries were reported as a result of the incident. Mall-goers were eventually let back in after the incident.
