“I entered this race to serve our community and bring our voice and priorities to Washington,” said Hill. “I look forward to working on behalf of everyone in this district to ensure we all have access to quality healthcare, housing we can afford and a representative and transparent government which truly serves the people.”

Representative Steve Knight conceded the race at 10:30 a.m via voicemail to Hill, according to officials.

“I also want to thank Representative Knight for his dedication and service to this community and our country. I look forward to working with him to ensure a smooth and effective transition,” Hill said.

The House majority PAC also congratulated Representative-Elect Hill on her victory.

“Katie Hill stood up for communities across CA-25 and achieved a terrific victory,” said House Majority PAC Executive Director Charlie Kelly. “House Majority PAC is proud to have played a role in ensuring Katie Hill can be the champion that working families in CA-25 need in Congress.”

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC), who works to elect democrats, also celebrated Hill’s win.

“Congresswoman-Elect Katie Hill has made history – as one of the youngest women ever elected to Congress, and a proud member of the LGBTQ community, she represents a new generation that is leading our party into the future. I am excited to congratulate Katie and honored to call her a colleague,” said Ben Ray Luján, DCCC chairman.

The district was a critical seat on the map for democrats, since it had not elected a democrat to Congress in over 25 years and was the only republican-held seat in Los Angeles County.

Hill continued, “This election was historic. Our goal from day one was to empower this community to have a voice — and with more than 4,000 volunteers and 500,000 doors knocked, we delivered. I am incredibly grateful to everyone who invested their time and energy into this effort. This is just the beginning.”

Katie Hill Elected To House Of Representatives

  1. Would love to know how she’s going to deliver on affordable housing for all. None of her minions could even begin to answer that one.

  2. Very sad day for Santa Clarita.

  3. The election of Democrat Katie Hill to the United States House of Representatives is one of, if not the best, things to happen to the SCV in a couple dozen years. She will represent us, all of us, our families, our health care, our children’s education, our Social Security, Medicare and stand up to the NRA; all are issues that Mr. Knight failed us on.

  4. Sickening. Absolutely disgusted. Just can’t imagine where any legitimate votes for her came from?

  5. I agree that we are in big trouble with Miss Hill representing us. First is the fact that she is clueless about politics as she indirectly admitted it, secondly, where on earth did she get so much money to use to unseat Mr. Knight? She claimed that she didn’t get any BIG money, but you can’t have a big war chest unless the PAC’s are giving it which was essential stated in the article by Director Kelly…
I have no faith with her at all! Good luck Santa Clarita as we are going to need it!!
Can’t wait to retire to get out of this city that has been my home for 20+ years!

  6. Katie Hill … a 31-year-old who self-identifies as a bisexual and lives with her husband on a farm of rescue animals in Agua Dulce. She brands herself as, “the most millennial candidate ever”. I’m not making this up, look it up.

Really quite ridiculous, exactly what we didn’t need, and she sure as hell does not represent me.

Hill won by just over 4,000 votes. Good job voters (or non-voters rather), next time do your homework and freaking vote.

    • Agreed, Eric! I’ve lived in SCV for a long time and I know that many are not happy with Hill. I think there will be some major force feeding here in Santa Clarita. She won’t be able to stand the fact that our city is a more conservative. She had to make sure she ran on the disclosure that she is bisexual…like that makes her more competent to do the job? Yup, a PITA loving millennial representing SCV…Lord help us all.

    • Help me understand your issue here…her age? Her support of LGBT? Her commitment to rescue farm animals? Or maybe it is just that she is a her? Your comments alone suggest why CA-25 needed a change. Welcome to 2018 where women are professionals, the LGBT community is in every community and people are compassionate in saving animals and voting.

      • Kristy, I’m assuming your comment was directed towards my comment. Ok, here are my ‘issues’:
        Millennials–many have a sense-of-entitlement
LGBT – I said I didn’t understand why her running on being bi-sexual had anything to do with politics
Rescued farm animals – sweet, but again, nothing to do with politics
        P.S…
        I am a professional woman
The LGBT community is in every community but they do not represent the majority of voters
People love animals but not everyone is fanatical enough to open a rescue farm
        I vote every election

      • I’ll help you understand my issue …

First off, if you think the $4.5 million dollar injection of outside money from the “Independence USA” political action committee alone, is good for our local area in terms of influence and what matters to our community, you’re nuts. Hill has been incredibly disingenuous on the subject of donors and outside influence.

Now to your specific questions …

        1) AGE: Yes, to a degree. That she calls herself, “the most millennial candidate ever” makes light of agendas that I don’t support, along with an entitled attitude, ignorance of economics, civics, I could go on. With age and experience comes wisdom, not always of course but it’s a good rule of thumb.

        2) SUPPORT OF LGBT: No, but let me correct you, she self-identifies as a bi-sexual while simultaneously in a marriage with a man. While I do find this fact quite odd, I couldn’t care less what her lifestyle is, but this speaks again to a host of agendas. I support and love LGBT people, but I do not support most of the agendas they advocate for.

        3) COMMITMENT TO ANIMAL RESCUE: Not at all, just pointing it out. In fact, I view this and her work with PATH as redeeming characteristics.

        4) “THAT SHE IS A HER”: No, and I don’t need a schooling from you about women in 2018 … I’m married to, and father of 2, strong independent women.

Many people do not vote based on race, sex, sexual orientation or identification. This is actually a trait of liberals who DO vote based on these types of biases of identity politics.

    • I did not know she was another ” out of the closet with her fetish” person, sad sad times for America not just Santa Clarita. Sorry but no one needs to know what odd thing floats your boat.

    • She’s smart, she’s committed to serving us, she didnt take blood money from the NRA or shove her nose up Trump’s butt like her predecessor. Lets give her a chance. Its not about her sexual preference, its about doing a good job. And i believe she will!

      • She got most of her money from out of state, and also Michael Bloomberg’s PAC. So when she said she wouldn’t take money from Corporate PAC’ she spoke with a forked tongue. Perfect Politician, nothing but lies.

      • “She’s smart” is up for debate.

“Did not take blood money from NRA”, instead she took $4.5 million dollars of outside f/u money from the “Independence USA” PAC. While it appears Knight only received $5-6k from the NRA (correct me if I’m wrong, but honestly I don’t care, I support the Constitution of the United States over Bloomberg any day of the week).

“It’s not about her sexual preference”, I agree, so why did Hill herself make it one???

  7. Just shows you can buy any election

  8. So sorry to hear. Looks like elections can be bought. It took her $6 million more than Knight to win. Let’s seen if she can buy it again in 2 years.

  9. A textbook example of a win for a well-funded slick campaign to elect a candidate based on vague ideology, cloacked indentuy and targeted persuasion. Congratulations to Hill. Shame on the sheep who voted for her.

    • SO true. A politically astute person can see right through her deceptive and vague platform, meant to convey that she’s middle of the road/not affiliated

Dig a little deeper you see that she’s a shill for the far left of the democrat party. Many voters don’t know really know who or what they voted for in Katie Hill.

  10. And a yes, A go ahead on the gas tax ? Thank you democrats for calling on the school kids to vote for you and your taxes its just what we needed to kill off the hard working class.

    • The top-down-bottom-up heist…more government, more poverty, eliminate everything in between ( aka, middle class).

    • Seriously! I’ve lived in California long enough to have seen tax hike after tax hike purposed specifically to maintain our roads and bridges, etc. To only have the libs who run our state spend the money on other things, then come back and create a new tax for supposedly the same thing!!! Unbelievable!

  11. The only good thing is the voters who voted for her and the other democrats are screwed just like us who didn’t vote for them. We’re all going to suffer financially.
Uhauls and moving businesses will probably increase however

  12. A bisectual sure as heck does not represent me!

  13. Grateful for the change! If you think SCV folks didn’t vote for her you are fooling yourself. The majority wanted something different. If she hadn’t come out as ‘bi’ the other side would have used it against her. She is better off being criticized for telling the truth and being upfront than being held hostage by the other side for frankly something that is nobody’s business. She will do great things. Congratulations, Katie Hill!

  14. God have mercy on us all when Michael Bloomberg’s shill is our “representative.” What a dark time we march through when “homeless advocates” without any legitimate accomplishment or vision are more worthy in the eyes of voters than our patriotic veterans with seniority in Congress.

  15. I’m so sad reading these comments. I did not vote for Katie Hill but can’t believe people from this great community would post hateful words about this young woman. Are we trying to come together or continue to be divisive? No wonder people call our party closed minded. Focusing on her sexual orientation? I feel like I’m back in middle school with the name calling. She needs to prove us wrong and show that she’ll make positive changes for our community. I’ll pray for Ms Hill along with other members of our government.

    • Can you please get off of your high horse. It’s not hateful to believe that certain lifestyles are sinful. What people don’t like is being told you are closed minded just because you have and believe in absolutes. Is it closed minded to believe it’s wrong to lie, cheat and steal? Don’t lump everyone into the wacko category please! Quit redefining “hate” to mean something other than actual hate. It’s not hate to believe that lifestyle is wrong. You can be civil and disagree.

    • Nicole, which party are you talking about when you say “No wonder people call our party close minded”. This comment in itself is close minded . Maybe people do their homework and learn about a candidate, their accomplishment, their priorities and come to the conclusion that the candidate is either a good thing for their community or not, regardless of their political preference.

    • Nicole:

I’m not seeing any hateful or divisive comments here. I do see divergence of opinion though, and that’s good and healthy for any truly diverse community!

(Unless by diverse you mean everything, except for the diversity of thought)

Hill made her sexuality an issue HERSELF!!! This is precisely the point many people here are making!

Curious if you felt like you were “back in middle school with the name calling” when you watched Hill’s (Bloomberg paid for), campaign ads against Knight?

  16. Katie Hill’s election in the 25 is part of a “sea change.” Her election gives us all hope that the politics in the SCV won’t just be run by conservatives and mostly men. She is young and hip and that is awesome. It is bigoted for anyone to be critical of her announced bisexuality. One may think that she is pandering to the younger generation, but perhaps she is just being honest. There are more than just conservatives in the SCV. We are far more diverse than we are ever given credit. It’s time to tone down the rhetoric and use common sense. We have a president who needs to be in check and our new Congress will do just that. Katie Hill will be an historic part of all that and we should all be proud of that. Sea change.

    • Sorry but I would have to disagree conservative or not we do not need to know what odd things float your boat keep it at home. lets let our youth became adults before they find out what freaky things the adults are into. It seems this whole lgbtqxyz thing is the latest hip group for teens to be a part of so Say no to internet for kids let them grow up before they see what’s out there.

      • Will: Part of the thing here is that, if we have an opinion other than full acceptance of ones sexual identity preference or behavior, then we are labeled “haters” and “bigots”. Just as “Steve” has done here.

You see it’s a trick the leftists use to shut down speech and diversity of thought. Because you are an evil person for not accepting everything they want you to, your opinions no longer deserve to be heard.

Ripe coming from those who feign diversity.

    • Steve, openly running on bi-sexuality thinking that it would appeal ‘more hip’ in order to win votes was unnecessary, since it has nothing to do with politics. At least it shouldn’t be. But please, calling it ‘bigoted’ ‘rhetoric’ or ‘critical’ is so typical of those who don’t like what others have to say. In this free country, no less.

    • What a ringing endorsement!

      poster Steve = Katie Hill?

I especially loved this line, “She is young and hip and that is awesome.”

      Lol

      *yawn

  17. I love this, what a break for us revolutionists. The more we give away, the better position to overturn the government. Looking forward to 1776 and a government for and by people. When the disadvantage people start to pay their fair share, there will be a change. They will move on to fertile pastures, Like Venezuela. Keep the faith and have hope in the future. An empty purse makes for good soldiers on both sides of opposition.

  18. You can thank redistricting for this! The reason so many people liked Santa Clarita was because of it’s conservative views and approach to government, now with the redistricting, you now include a part of San Fernando and Simi Valley in our district! What a complete joke. You can say goodbye to responsible government that focuses on a smaller government and less intrusive government. My time of living in Santa Clarita and California to be honest may be coming to an end.

  19. I voted for Kim Jong Un. He is a man of honor and integrity unlike our politicians. Kim can accomplish something, our politicians cannot. Democrat and Republicans, they both are rotten and stink.

  20. You know there is an 9 year old boy performing oral on younger boys in the parks of SCV and acton. Is this her goal for American children to turn them bi before they grow up ? Is that why she had to put her fetishes in her campaign for our youth ? Say no to internet for children and parents check thier phone history regularly.

  21. This comes down to evil people with money who can fool so many clueless, brainless and gullible people to vote for the stupid people they support. Whether we are destroyed by fires or crooked politicians, we will still go down in flames after the last election. Don’t believe me? Wait for it!

  22. It’s so amusing to sit back and watch you Repugnantcans hyperventilate. You’re always scared of something and you scare so easily! Scared of immigrants, scared of taxes, scared of different sexual orientations, scared of your own shadows apparently. Fake-threatening to leave the city… Just too funny! And progressives are supposed to be the snowflakes? You people are so high-strung and nervous a snowflake falling on you would probably give you a heart attack.

    Thanks for the amusement!
