Keeping Santa Clarita Green On Earth Day, KHTS Offers Tips

In honor of Earth Day 2022, KHTS has put together a list of tips to keep the Santa Clarita Valley green.

With the Santa Clarita community celebrating earth day across the valley, KHTS has put together a video narrating how residents can maximize their green efforts.

“Make sure to properly dispose of trash,” reminded the video. “If you need to dispose of large items, households with trash service are entitled to four free bulky item pick-ups per year.”

Hazardous waste such as battery, paint and oil should also not be disposed of as trash, but disposed of safely through any of Santa Clarita’s hazardous waste disposing sites for free.

To reduce water waste, KHTS advises watering lawns for five minute intervals, three times per day to reduce excess water runoff.

KHTS also suggests spending earth day considering grass alternatives like clover, moss, weeds, herbs, thymes and blooms, which require less water, less maintenance, no mowing and no fertilizers. These alternatives are not only inexpensive, but keep alive Santa Clarita’s natural habitat.

  1. Thanks Liberals for condoning the Vagrants to burn fires in our once beautiful hillsides/washes, etc.! That’s not green, it’s CCP red with fire & more destruction!
