The KHTS AM-1220 delegation continued its weeklong tour of Washington, D.C., meeting with House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy and other capitol officials.

KHTS, the Santa Clarita Valley’s only local radio station, leads the trip each year to discuss how national issues impact the Santa Clarita Valley, as well as how they’re being debated in Washington.
After a morning tour the Pentagon, the KHTS team and 39 Santa Clarita leaders were escorted to a number of meetings and discussions covering topics, such as education, health care and an energy update.
The group was also able to sit in with McCarthy, R-Bakersfield, where they were able to discuss a number of different topics concerning the country including business.
Get live news updates about Santa Clarita by following KHTS on Facebook and KHTS on Twitter“If you look at the economic numbers of America, business investment is down, consumer investment is up, productivity is down,” said McCarthy. “Unheard of in America: productivity is down.” McCarthy went on to relate the drop in productivity to the to that of the nation’s battle of businesses against regulations that don’t necessarily help businesses succeed.
The KHTS team was also able to attend meetings with a staff member of the U.S. House of Representatives for the Committee For Education and the Workforce as well as the Senior Federal Relations Representative for the Association of California Water Agencies.
