Los Angeles County plans to open new drive-up mobile testing sites in several locations throughout the county, including Santa Clarita.
County officials did not disclose the location of the new testing site in Santa Clarita as of Sunday.
Besides Santa Clarita, new sites are planned to open this week at Martin Luther King Jr. Community Hospital as well as in East Los Angeles.
In addition, the County is in discussions with AltaMed to bring several urgent care facilities into the County’s testing network in underserved areas.
The County and City of LA currently offer multiple drive-up mobile testing sites. For a full list of locations and answers to questions about testing, visit the website.
The first step to getting a test is visiting this website to determine if a patient is eligible and to register for an appointment. People who can’t use a computer or access the internet can dial 2-1-1 for help making an appointment.
“Health equity is central to Los Angeles County’s mission as we work to bring this important service to areas of the County where there are testing service gaps,” read a Sunday press release. “We are working to build a network of testing sites that are free and open to any member of the public who qualifies for testing; no one will be turned away regardless of immigration status or lack of insurance coverage.”
To ensure testing sites help those who need it the most, people with insurance should first contact their medical providers to request COVID-19 testing through their own networks which are also providing testing in a variety of locations throughout the County.

Do you have to have something from your doctor? My husband’s immune system is compromised due to chemo treatments. So worried about and me to bring anything back to him.
Please advise thank you .
Michele you should follow this link to determine eligibility: https://covid19.lacounty.gov/testing/
Michelle, the website will pre-screen you and let you know if you are eligible for a test. At present, only people WITH SYMPTOMS are being screened from the at-risk groups (over 65, chronic underlying health conditions and people who have been quarantined for 14 days due to exposure to another infected person). Your husband would qualify for a test on the basis of his underlying medical condition but ONLY if he is exhibiting the symptoms. The reason for this is that the test kits are in short supply and the drive-in centers can only process around 150-200 patients/day.
