Canyon Country local author Adam Swain Ferguson has released a children’s book inspired by his own family to recognize National Adoption Month in November. 

Swain Ferguson moved to California in 2017, where he pursued a Bachelor’s degree in Entertainment Business, and a Master’s in Producing for Television. After the birth of his son, he decided to produce children’s content inspired by his own personal experiences with family growth; including adoption and IVF. 

Swain Ferguson and his husband waited almost two years until finding out they could adopt a baby, a journey that he describes as filled with both “hope and grief.”

“When we finally decided that all hope was lost and we were going to end our adoption journey, our facilitator told us to just hold on to hope a little longer and sure enough we were matched with who would be our son’s birth mother,” said Swain Ferguson to ABC 7. 

The children’s book “Love Without Wings, An Adoption Fairytale,” is the result of that journey, the story that originally started as a bedtime story for their son. 

“Every night I would recite to him our own special family story and it took the shape of a fairytale. Eventually I thought let me write this down and share it with the world,” said Swain Ferguson. 

The book was released on Nov. 19 during National Adoption Month. The book’s illustrator is also a Saugus resident, Veronica Stanley-Kooper.
