“I decorated my office heavily every year for Halloween,” said Dr. Ron Singer, a local pediatric dentist. “And patients really liked it.”

Beginning in the early 80’s I would decorate the office on the first weekend in October and leave it up until December,” said Dr. Singer. “It was a haunted dental office.”

Remembering Molar Manor

Molar Manor was a animatronic haunted mansion created entirely by individual pieces of Halloween decorations hand picked by Dr. Singer.

The hobby eventually outgrew his office, and moved to his front yard.

“We had about 1,000 to 2,000 visitors,” said Dr. Singer.

There were problems with having so many electronic decorations outside.

“It would rain sometimes and it just got a little dangerous,” said Dr. Singer.

All of the decorations were eventually moved to a warehouse in Valencia. There, Dr. Singer had contractors and set designers working throughout the year.

All of that production and preparation was for that one special weekend a year, and Dr. Singer donated all proceeds to different children’s charities.

The event went on about five years, and always drew a huge crowd. “We were easily seeing 4,000 people,” said Dr. Singer.

Remembering Bobby Boris Pickett’s hit song Monster Mash

“We had Bobby Boris Pickett perform for a few years,” said Dr. Singer. “He sang his hit song Monster Mash, it’s the halloween anthem.”

In 2004, then Mayor, Bob Keller, presented Pickett with the one and only “stake” to the city, also naming the street where it all took place Monster Mash Alley. The event also featured local dance groups, and performers.

Unfortunately, the event had to come to an end, and Dr. Singer had to sell all of the attractions due to the expenses involved.

His love for Halloween decorations still continues in his newly remodeled office. The office is decorated in the likeness of the Nightmare Before Christmas, and Disney’s Haunted Mansion.

Dr. Singer hasn’t completely forgotten about his past passion, he still has a room in his dental office completely dedicated to Molar Manor.

“Ronald Singer, DDS has been in the same location in Valencia since 1982.  He believes in the tradition of having one hometown dentist that everyone knows.  Dr. Ron, as his patients call him, is your kids hometown dentist!  He opened his practice over 20 years ago in the Valencia Medical Center and continues to provide excellent dental service at the same location today.  Dr. Ron has been around the Santa Clarita Valley for so long that even some of his early patients are now bringing their own children in to his office and he believes there is no greater compliment.”
