On Friday, Congressman Mike Garcia (Santa Clarita-R) announced the process for applying for a nomination to the U.S Military Service Academies for the class of 2026.
Garcia is expected to nominate up to 10 individuals from California’s 25th District for each vacant academy slot. The deadline to apply for a nomination for the class of 2026 is Nov. 19.
“Nominating young, highly motivated constituents from our district for U.S. Service Academies is something near and dear to my heart,” Garcia said. “After graduating from Saugus High School, I attended the U.S. Naval Academy per a congressional nomination. This was one of the best decisions I ever made.”
Candidates interested in applying can complete the form here and submit their completed packets to Garcia’s office by Nov. 19. An interview with a panel of academy graduates is set to be held to determine the nomination status of each candidate.
For the Class of 2026, interviews are scheduled to be held on Saturday, December 18.
Candidates for a congressional nomination must be a resident of California’s 25th District and be a U.S. citizen, at least 17-years-old and not past their 23rd birthday by July 1 of the year of admission, unmarried with no children or dependents, women must not be pregnant upon applying, and individuals must be able to meet academic, physical, and medical standards.
The service academies include the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland, United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado, the United States Military Academy at West Point, New York, and the United States Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point, New York.
