The incident occurred around 11 a.m.  in Valencia, said Sgt. Wayne Waterman with the Santa Clarita Sheriff’s station, near the Valencia Town Center.

A male white transient wearing a green shirt attempted to take a stroller with a child in it, he said, on the southwest corner of Mcbean Parkway and Magic Mountain Parkway.

“The victim, a woman in her 20’s, reported that she was stopped at the corner of the above intersection with her two small children in a jogging stroller when an unknown suspect approached her from behind,” said Shirley Miller, Santa Clarita Sheriff’s Station public information officer. “There was a struggle that ensued between the victim and the suspect in an effort to gain control of the stroller.”

“The mother of the child was able to take the stroller back, and the suspect fled on foot,” Waterman said.

Both the child and mother were fine, he said.

No arrests have been made.

About Louie Diaz

Louie was born and raised in Santa Clarita. At the age of two Louie lost his vision due to a brain tumor. However, Louie doesn't let blindness stop him from doing what ever it is he wants to accomplish. Growing up some of his favorite hobbies were wood working, fishing and riding bikes. Louie graduated from College of the Canyon in December of 2017, with a Broadcast Journalism degree. Growing up Louie has always wanted to be a fire fighter or a police officer, but because of his blindness Louie knew that wouldn't work. Louie has always loved listening to police and fire radio traffic, using a scanner, and he figured if he was going to listen to the scanner so much, he should do something with it.
