One Arrested After Traffic Stop Leads To Stolen Mail Found

Tuesday afternoon, deputies with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle, which led to the finding of a “stack of mail” and methamphetamine.

The vehicle was originally stopped for a vehicle code violation. Upon further investigation, deputies found the driver in possession of potentially stolen mail.

“Around 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, deputies patrolling near Seco Canyon Road conducted a traffic stop for a vehicle code violation,” said Shirley Miller, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station. “The man was also found to be in possession of methamphetamine and a ‘stack of mail.’”

The driver, a male adult in his 30’s from Palmdale, was found to have also never been issued a driver’s license.

“Upon closer observation, deputies noted the pieces of mail had different names, different addresses-none of which were the suspect’s,” Miller said.

The man was arrested on felony fraud charges and narcotics charges.

The incident is under investigation by detectives.

The Santa Clarita Sheriff’s Station would like to remind the community to protect against mail theft with Informed Delivery by USPS.
