The proposed project would see the current location for Station 104, 26901 Golden Valley Road, torn down and relocated in order to construct a new 10,700-square-foot station that would include a two-bay apparatus room, main office, a training room, day room, kitchen, an exercise room and dormitory quarters for nine personnel.

Once completed, the new Fire Station 104 will bring a level of improved fire protection, emergency medical, and life safety services to the expanding community of Santa Clarita, according to a letter from the board of supervisors.

The project budget of approximately $15 million was originally approved on May 13, 2008 with a total construction cost estimated at just under $9.8 million.

After acquiring the land for the new station before the December 2010 deadline, the project was then put on hold until October 2016 because of “operational needs and growth forecasts,” according to the board letter.

The county anticipates construction on the new station 104 will begin in March 2018 and be completed in May 2019.

The county will be accepting bids for the construction up until the Dec. 19 deadline.
