One person was detained at gunpoint in the Peet’s Coffee parking lot Saturday morning in Valencia. 

At around 10:30 a.m. deputies detained a suspect at gunpoint at the Peet’s Coffee parking lot on McBean Parkway in Valencia, according to Lieutenant Mike Marion with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station. 

“The suspect was wanted for a prior road rage incident this morning where he brandished a gun at the other party,” said Marion. “Deputies were advised to be on the lookout for a red KIA Soul.”

The suspect was described as a black man with dreadlocks. About two hours after the initial incident deputies spotted the vehicle and the suspect who matched the description.   

“The suspect was detained by gunpoint and has been arrested,” Marion said. “Deputies still remain in the field.”

No injuries have been reported.
