A 60-day review and public comment period is soon set to open for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station’s annual Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) grant request.
The grant request application is expected to be available to review for a 60-day review by the public beginning on March 7, 2023 and ending on May 7, 2023.
Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station polices the City of Santa Clarita and the unincorporated communities and a portion of the Angeles National Forest, as well as Bouquet Canyon, Canyon Country, Castaic, Gorman, Hasley Canyon, Newhall, Neenach, Sand Canyon, Santa Clarita, Saugus, Sleepy Valley, Southern Oaks, Stevenson Ranch, Sunset Point, Tesoro del Valle, Valencia, Val Verde, West Hills and West Ranch.
These areas have hundreds of miles of OHV riding trails, open land where riders frequent, and several dedicated OHV riding areas, including Hungry Valley, Rowher Flats, Drinkwater Flats, and Texas Canyon.
The Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station OHV team was formed over 20 years ago to enforce off-highway vehicle riding areas. The team is supported through grants from California State Parks and funds provided by the City of Santa Clarita.
The public may view the application or provide comments by visiting the California State Parks website. Questions may also be directed to Sergeant Guillermo Martinez at g5martin@lasd.org and carbon copying OHVinfo@parks.ca.gov.
