A reckless driving suspect was taken into custody south of Santa Clarita on Saturday after leading authorities on a high-speed pursuit on the 14 Freeway. 

At around 11 a.m. Saturday, the California Highway Patrol (CHP) pursued a gray SUV on the northbound 14 Freeway north of Soledad Canyon Road, according to Officer Marroquin with CHP Traffic Management.  

“It was a female suspect wanted for speeding,” said Marroquin. 

The vehicle traveled at high speeds between 80 to 100 miles per hour on the 14 freeway, heading into Crown Valley and Palmdale. 

Several failed attempts to stop the vehicle with spikes were made, until the vehicle finally ran over a spike strip in moderate traffic on the 14 Freeway.

The suspect then attempted to drive back towards Santa Clarita on the southbound 14 Freeway towards Acton. 

The pursuit came to an end when the suspect was taken into custody on the 14 Freeway south of Ward Road in Acton.
