Over the course of his 136-page book entitled Kem Weber: Mid-Century Furniture Designs for the Disney Studios, Bossert discusses the style and functionality of furniture created by Karl Emanuel Martin “Kem” Weber — the mid-century architect and furniture designer.

The book depicts through early concept illustrations, photos and interviews how Weber helped influence the Walt Disney Company over the decades during his time at Walt Disney Studios as Chief Designer, according to Bossert.

Heavily influenced by the modernist movement, his  designs shaped Californian urban look during the mid-twentieth century with building architecture, interior designs and furniture, which included his famed Airline chair.

The author included interviews from colleagues who worked and produced films on the Weber furniture over the years.

These animators include  Disney legends and award winning artists such as Academy Award nominated Producer Don Hahn, Jorgen Klubein, Academy Award winning director John Musker, James Coleman, Academy Award winning director Brenda Chapman, Karen Keller, Disney Legend Andreas Deja, and many others.

Weber also designed the functional animation furniture that was specifically made for the the then-new Walt Disney Studios complex in Burbank in 1939.

Disney animators were asked to give their input to assist Weber in his efforts to design specialized animation furniture artist were going to use, according to Bossert.

Kem Weber: Mid-Century Furniture Designs for the Disney Studios is expected to available for readers by Nov. 13.
