Haggerty, 34, pled not guilty to child molestation charges during a court appearance in September.

His trial comes after being arrested by the Special Victims Bureau of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department on Sept. 13.

The youth basketball coach worked for or trained a number of high school sports teams and young athletes across the Santa Clarita Valley.

“Over the course of nearly a decade, Haggerty is accused of sexually assaulting eight victims who ranged in age between 14 and 17 years old,” said district attorney officials at the time of the arrest.

A ninth victim came forward soon after Haggerty’s arrest.

In August, officials with the LA County Special Victims Unit confirmed that they were investigating a former basketball coach from Trinity Classical Academy.

In an interview with KHTS at the time, Wally Caddow, managing director at Trinity Classical Academy, stated the incident occurred during a private transaction not on school grounds while the coach was still the varsity basketball coach.

Caddow confirmed that Haggerty was the varsity boys basketball coach, but that he had been fired by Trinity Classical Academy in 2016 for unrelated circumstances.

Haggerty originally played basketball for Canyon High School until he graduated in 2002. He was inducted into the Canyon High School Boys Basketball Hall of Fame in 2009.

He continued to play basketball at Eastern Arizona Junior College before accepting a scholarship to play basketball at The Master’s University (then The Master’s College).

Haggerty also played for two professional tour teams in Taiwan and Italy.

According to his most recent “coach’s biography” that was found on the Valencia High School basketball website, Haggerty either coached or assisted at: Canyon High School, Golden Valley High School, Renaissance Academy, Saugus High School, Trinity Classical Academy, Valencia High School and West Ranch High School.

He is currently being held at the Pitchess Detention Center North Facility in Castaic with bail set at $1 million. He is scheduled to return to court on Feb. 8 for a preliminary hearing.
