California State Assembly 38th District

Santa Clarita voters got an early look at this election during the June 5 primary, when Acosta, the freshman incumbent, received more votes than his only challenger, Christy Smith. Analysts said the June primary was expected to be an early indicator for November’s results, because both Acosta and Smith automatically advanced to the general election as the only two candidates.

  • Christy Smith – Newhall School District Governing Board Member

California 25th Congressional District

Santa Clarita’s biggest race in 2018 pits an incumbent congressman against a nonprofit executive, while the nation watches. Rep. Steve Knight holds one of the House of Representatives seats Democrats are hoping to flip in November to take control of the House. Katie Hill, his competitor, rose out of a close race between fellow Democrat Bryan Caforio to win a spot in the November election.

  1. Undisclosed Occupation? Where did this incomplete information come from? I am, and have been the Executive Director of the Canyon Theatre Guild for many years. This was disclosed on filing papers when returned to the City.
