Santa Clarita Encore Chorale Offer Fall Season For Seniors

Santa Clarita Encore Chorale is offering it’s fall season program “Encore Creativity for Older Adults’ to local seniors interested in chorus singing.

No auditions are necessary for the program hosted at Newhall Church of the Nazarene.

“Encore’s mission is to provide accessible arts education and performance opportunities for older adults regardless of ability or experience,” said Encore in a statement.

Adults who sign up will experience singing a fun and eclectic mix of music in many styles and from different eras under the direction of conductor Alex Nizzoli, pianist, teacher and singer in Los Angeles.

Nizzoli currently works with both the musical theater and choral departments of College of the Canyons and leads the music department at St. Euphrasia School in Granada Hills where he sings with the choir and is an accompanist for mass each weekend.

Registration is open now for the 12-week program of singing that begins September 9th, 2022. Encore Chorale of Santa Clarita meets at Newhall Church of the Nazarene, 23857 The Old Road in Newhall, on Fridays from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

“We are thrilled to establish our first official Encore Chorale on the west coast and cultivate our Encore community in Santa Clarita,” said Joshua Vickery, CEO of  Encore Creativity for Older Adults.  “Our choral programs have enabled participants to discover a new passion, challenge themselves, foster new friendships and most of all, experience joy.”

The program includes a holiday concert that is free and open to the public. Tuition is $190 per person for the 12-week session. For more information and registration, click here.

For those who prefer to sing virtually, Encore is also offering its popular Encore University, a comprehensive online program of singing plus enrichment courses in music history, music theory, dance, art, movement classes and more.

Tuition for the fall semester of Encore University is $185 per person. Registration opens August 10th. Encore Chorale of Santa Clarita singers can combine both the in-person program with online classes for a full musical experience.
