Second Round
Wilson (10-2): 56
West Ranch (10-2): 57
Final
On a night when many around the Santa Clarita Valley community came together to show unity in the wake of overwhelming tragedy, the West Ranch Wildcats gave the home crowd and the community to which it belongs something to cheer for. West Ranch erased a 21 point first half deficit and scored 36 points in the second half en route to a 57-56 win.
The Wildcats opted to go for two after scoring with 1:36 left in the fourth quarter and converted for the go-ahead score. Junior quarterback Walker Eget continued his ascencion to the best QB in Santa Clarita with an enormous game, throwing for seven touchdown passes, including the final one to Brandon Wyre that set up the 2-pt conversion (which he also threw to convert).
The West Ranch student section, which tonight was a combination of West Ranch, Saugus & other students, held a moment of silence for the victims at halftime. They released balloons, and after the moment chanted “Saugus strong!” It seemed to be a matter of fate that the Wildcats football team would rise up for a dramatic come-from-behind victory.
Unbelievable! Walker Eget can’t be stopped! Drops the dime for his 7th TD pass 2 pt conversion IS GOOD! Wildcats have their first lead of the game with 1:36 remaining and the crowd is chanting “SCV! SCV! SCV!”
