The City of Santa Clarita has recently partnered up with the Los Angeles County Department of Public Works to offer two sets of smart gardening workshops in Santa Clarita.
There are two kinds of workshops, with both focusing on a specific goal. Beginner Workshops offered by the city will focus on introducing participants to smart gardening, while advanced workshops will focus on those who already love to garden.
Beginner courses will introduce basic techniques of composting, worm composting, water-wise gardening and grasscycling.
Advanced workshops will teach those interested in organic gardening, landscaping with native drought tolerant plants and integrated pest management (including environmentally friendly ways to control pests).
No reservations are needed to attend the event, and each workshop will last about one and a half hours, according to officials.
Attendants will also have the opportunity to purchase a backyard or worm compost bin at a discounted rate at the end of each workshop.
Santa Clarita locations for this event will include the Old Town Newhall Library, as well as the JoAnne Darcy Library in Canyon Country.
Each location will host two workshops on different dates, including a beginner workshop and an advanced workshop.
