Santa Clarita Public Library Announces ‘First Library Card’ Program For Children

The Santa Clarita Public Library system has launched the “First Library Card” Program for children of ages six and under in the community.

The program allows for children to obtain a special library card and check out books, audiobooks, eBooks and other educational resources from any of the public libraries in the City of Santa Clarita, officials said.

September is recognized as National Library Card Sign-Up Month, and this program encourages children to sign up for their very first library card. In doing this, they are also set to receive a coloring sheet with helpful library tips and a bookmark mailed to their address.

Parents can use to hashtag #MyFirstLibraryCardSC with a photo of their child and their first library card to be shared on library social media accounts.

Santa Clarita Public Libraries are open for curbside pick-up and service, and passport services by appointment. Physical distancing and face coverage is required.
