Santa Clarita Mayor Cameron Smyth highlighted the additional openings following the announcement of the reopening of the library system for curbside pickup and City Hall.
“Please continue to follow safety protocols when visiting and using the facilities,” Smyth said on social media. “As a reminder, the decision to close private businesses was made by the state and county health officials, not the City so we can only focus on public operations run or managed by the City of Santa Clarita.”
The dog park was closed on March 23, along with basketball courts, to encourage social distancing, according to the City.
Throughout the “Safer at Home” health order, the City of Santa Clarita kept parks as a whole open as residents kept their distance from those outside their family.
On April 2, Santa Clarita closed the skate park in efforts to curb the spread of COVID-19, according to the City.
Beginning Monday, all Santa Clarita Public Library locations are to begin offering “Curbside Service,” a contactless way to borrow books and other items.

The curbside service first requires a reservation for books and other items. Each branch of the library is said to have specific pickup parking spots.
Once parked, residents then call the library and a staff member will bring a bag of requested books to a table in front of the parking spot. Once at a safe distance, borrowers will then be able to retrieve the bag.
To ensure the safety of staff and borrowers, librarians are wearing face masks and gloves at all times, as well as quarantining returned materials for three days.
