Saugus Man Charged With Lewd Acts Upon A Child Returns To Court

A Saugus man who pled not guilty to charges of lewd acts upon a child at the Valencia Town Center returned to court Monday.

Andres Madrigal, 69, of Saugus, is charged with one felony count of a lewd and lascivious act upon a child under the age of 14 years, according to officials with the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.

Just before 3 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 27, deputies with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station received reports of possible sex crimes against a minor in the patios of the Valencia mall, according to Sheriff’s officials.

“We had multiple units respond to that location,” said Deputy Ed Luna with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Information Bureau at the time. “An informant said that they saw a person inappropriately touch a minor.”

A boy under the age of 14 contacted his parents after the alleged assault, which occurred in a restroom near a playground in the patios, according to Sheriff’s officials.

The parent contacted mall security, who then called the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

He was booked on $100,000 bail at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station, according to arrest records.

Madrigal is scheduled to return to court on Aug. 28.
