Senator Scott Wilk, R-Santa Clarita, announced in an official statement Friday that two bills were approved by the State Assembly Appropriations Committee.

The first bill, Senate Bill 153 (SB 153), would revise California’s methods for regulating and cultivating industrial hemp, insuring that the testing of hemp conforms to the state’s federal farm bill. 

Meanwhile, the second bill, Senate BIll 202 (SB 202), emphasizes the, “loving and humane treatment,” of animal blood donors. Officials say the bill provides flexible community-based donation opportunities, outside the current restrictive companies being used. 

The current legislative session is set to end on Sept.13, and both SB 153 and SB 202 are expected to be heard on the Assembly floor prior to the end of the session.
