Three Actors Set To Join ‘Walk Of Western Stars’ In Old Town Newhall

“Walk of Western Stars” officials are set to induct three actors in Old Town Newhall to kick off the 26th annual Santa Clarita Cowboy Festival set for this weekend.

The induction is set to take place on Main Street, with free parking available in the structure on the corner of 9th Street and Railroad Avenue in Newhall.

The City of Santa Clarita has been commemorating western radio, television and movie stars since 1981.

This year, City officials are set to honor three new actors: James Drury, Robert Fuller and Dan White, according to officials.

Drury, who is best known for his starring role in the television series “The Virginian,” began his acting career in 1954. While he started out with small parts, he eventually made his way to roles in western films such as “Love Me Tender” and “The Last Wagon.”

Drury also starred in television series, including “Gunsmoke” and “Rifleman.” His voice has been featured in various documentaries and audio books as well, according to City officials.

Before retiring in the 1990s, Fuller’s five-decade career included roles in the western series “Laramie” and “Wagon Train.”

White grew up in Florida, but moved his family to California to pursue his acting career, according to officials.

He lived in Hollywood and Newhall during most of his career, and was inspired to pursue a career in Western films by local Santa Clarita hero William S. Hart, according to officials.

Out of the 345 films and television shows White appeared in, 264 were of the western genre.

The Walk of Western Stars induction is scheduled for Thursday, April 11 at 5 p.m., leading into the Santa Clarita Cowboy Festival.

Following the unveiling of the stars, community members are invited to an induction ceremony, which includes a dinner, montage of the inductees work, and a question-and-answer session in Hart Hall at William S. Hart Park, according to officials.

Tickets for the induction event are $60 per person and can be purchased here.

Doors open at 5:45 p.m., but seating is assigned, according to event organizers.

About Louie Diaz

Louie was born and raised in Santa Clarita. At the age of two Louie lost his vision due to a brain tumor. However, Louie doesn't let blindness stop him from doing what ever it is he wants to accomplish. Growing up some of his favorite hobbies were wood working, fishing and riding bikes. Louie graduated from College of the Canyon in December of 2017, with a Broadcast Journalism degree. Growing up Louie has always wanted to be a fire fighter or a police officer, but because of his blindness Louie knew that wouldn't work. Louie has always loved listening to police and fire radio traffic, using a scanner, and he figured if he was going to listen to the scanner so much, he should do something with it.
