Two men from the San Fernando Valley were arrested after allegedly racing in Valencia Monday night, officials said.
At around midnight Monday, deputies with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station responded to the Avenue Crocker area in Valencia after receiving reports of vehicles racing, according to Shirley Miller, a spokesperson for the station.
“As they arrived to the scene, they observed multiple vehicles leaving the location driving at a high rate of speed,” Miller wrote in an official post Wednesday.
Deputies were able to conduct a traffic stop on one of the suspected vehicles, detaining the driver and two passengers during their investigation, according to Miller.
The driver, a 21-year-old man from Northridge, was arrested on charges of aiding a speed contest and for carrying a concealed firearm in the vehicle.
Additionally, one of the passengers, a 20-year-old man from San Fernando, was found to have two warrants totalling $65,000, according to Miller.
“One of the warrants was street race-related and the other warrant was for a hit-and-run,” Miller wrote.
Both men were transported to and booked at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.
