Two Face Arson Charges After Santa Clarita Big Rig Fire Injures Suspect

Two individuals are facing felony arson charges after they allegedly set a big rig on fire Thursday evening in Santa Clarita, sending one of them to the hospital.

Around 11:45 p.m. Thursday, firefighters received reports of a vehicle fire on Soledad Canyon Road near the 14 Freeway in Canyon Country, said Leslie Lua, a spokesperson for the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

The blaze fully engulfed a big rig before crews were able to extinguish the flames, according to Lua.

Investigators determined that the truck had been intentionally set on fire.

“There was one suspect arrested,” said Sgt. Jeff Bishop, with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Arson and Explosive Unit.

A second suspect was injured during the course of the fire and was transported to a burn center where he remains as of Monday morning, Bishop said.

The two suspects were not the owners of the truck, and it is unclear if the individuals know the owner of the vehicle, according to officials.

Narbe Ohanessian, 32, from Glendale, and his accomplice — whose identity is currently being withheld until he is released from the hospital and into police custody — are being charged with felony arson, Bishop added.

  1. What is going on with your new pop up ads? I guess I am going to have to unsubscribe from your news feed. Every time I open a news article. I start getting right wing religious pop ups. Don’t know why, but you should probably investigate your advertising policies

  2. We as the court and others involved in the case and outside the case learned that Emmanuel Avedisian was the prime suspect with burn marks indicating he was in no doubt the one who set the fire of the big rig, the two suspects have served their time and have yet been released.

About Louie Diaz

Louie was born and raised in Santa Clarita. At the age of two Louie lost his vision due to a brain tumor. However, Louie doesn't let blindness stop him from doing what ever it is he wants to accomplish. Growing up some of his favorite hobbies were wood working, fishing and riding bikes. Louie graduated from College of the Canyon in December of 2017, with a Broadcast Journalism degree. Growing up Louie has always wanted to be a fire fighter or a police officer, but because of his blindness Louie knew that wouldn't work. Louie has always loved listening to police and fire radio traffic, using a scanner, and he figured if he was going to listen to the scanner so much, he should do something with it.
