Two people were transported to the hospital following a traffic collision involving a big rig in Castaic Sunday morning. 

At around 11:35 a.m. first responders received reports of a traffic collision on the southbound 5 Freeway near Lake Hughes Road in Castaic, according to Ed Pickett with the Los Angeles Fire Department. 

“The collision was a big rig versus a camry and two people were transported to the hospital,” Pickett said. 

Reports from the California Highway Patrol (CHP) state that the driver of the camry was possibly impaired and collided with the big rig. 

The No. 3 and 4 lanes of the southbound 5 Freeway were temporarily blocked for an unknown duration following the accident, according to the CHP Incident Logs.

The extent of the injuries sustained remain unavailable to the public as of 12:45 p.m.
