First responders from the Los Angeles County Fire Department have located “lost hikers” who went missing near Castaic Lake Thursday night.
Just before 8 p.m. Thursday night, units from the Los Angeles County Fire Department were dispatched to Lake Hughes Road near Dry Gulch Mountainway, according to Supervisor Ornelas with the department.
“We are looking for lost hikers,” Ornelas said at 9 p.m. Thursday. “We got a report of two lost hikers that need assistance. We are not sure if they are hurt but we have not made contact.”
The hikers had friends who were separated somehow and were able to make contact with emergency services, according to Ornelas.
A Fire Department helicopter was dispatched to assist in the search for the hikers, who were later located, according to Supervisor Stafford with the department.
“We’re on scene with the hikers right now,” he said at 10 p.m. Thursday. “We’re getting ready to drop them off with the paramedics.”
The exact condition of the hikers was unknown as of Thursday night.
