Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station officials reported a suspect from a Valencia carjacking was shot to death in a Reno Casino after an altercation with Reno Police Department officers, officials said Monday.

Steven Valenzuela, 24, was discovered fleeing with two other suspects in a suspected robbery on February 23 in Reno, Nevada. Reno officers chased the three men into the Eldorado Casino. During the chase, officers determined that the suspect was in possession of a firearm, according to officials.
Officers then cornered the suspect in an elevator inside of the casino. Valenzuela was armed with a handgun and displayed this to the officer who gave numerous verbal commands.
Valenzuela did not comply with the commands and was advancing towards the officer still armed with the handgun. The Reno Police Officer fired at the suspect, ultimately striking the suspect, according to police officials.
Officers rendered aid and REMSA and the Reno Fire Department responded; however, the suspect identified as Steven Valenzuela, a 24-year-old Las Vegas, NV resident was pronounced deceased on scene, according to officials.
Reno P.D. Detectives have determined through the course of the investigation that Valenzuela was wanted in connection with an Armed Robbery in St. George, Utah and a Carjacking with a Firearm in Valencia.
Valenzuela was wanted by Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station deputies in connection with a February 19 carjacking on Tourney Road in Valencia.

Two suspects are sought after allegedly carjacking a man at gunpoint in Valencia, according to Sheriff’s Station officials.
The suspects, a male and a female, were headed northbound on Tourney Road near Valencia Country Club, where their vehicle hit a curb.
They then allegedly carjacked a man at gunpoint who had stopped at the scene, taking off in his white Hyundai sedan, according to officials.
