A bill proposing free access to all California State Parks for military veterans with special recognition license plates, proposed by Santa Clarita Assemblyman Scott Wilk, was killed by the Senate Appropriations Committee.

“Our country’s war heroes deserve the highest praise and it’s concerning to see the majority party spend excessive amounts of money on a bullet train to nowhere but they can’t spare a few bucks for our country’s most honorable war heroes? Allowing complimentary entry to our state’s incredible park system is the least we can do to thank veterans and their family members for their service and sacrifice,” said Wilk, R-Santa Clarita.

AB 240 would allow recipients of Purple Heart, Pearl Harbor Survivor, Ex-Prisoner of War, Congressional Medal of Honor, Gold Star Family, and Legion of Valor license plates free entrance to all California State Parks every day.

Wilk’s 38th Assembly District encompasses Simi Valley, the northwestern section of the San Fernando Valley and most of the Santa Clarita Valley.
