West Ranch Falls To Crescenta Valley In CIF SS Championship – Santa Clarita Sports Report – May 20th

CIF Southern Section Division 3 Championship Game

West Ranch: 0

1 Crescenta Valley: 3

The Wildcats season ended in heart-breaking fashion on Saturday afternoon, defeated by the Falcons, the top team in Division 3 all season.

West Ranch had an incredible offensive run in the playoffs, averaging 11.25 runs per game before stalling out in the title game. It was nearly four runs more than their average during the regular season.

Unfortunately, Adrienne Chang and Co. went cold against CV and were shut out in the big one. Crescenta Valley scored in the first inning (which proved to be the difference) and added a pair of insurance runs in the third.

West Ranch finishes the 2019 season 18-8 overall, and CIF SS D3 finalists.

Los Angeles Dodgers

The Dodgers took two out of three this weekend in Cincinnati to maintain their position as the best record in the National League (31-17).

Sunday, two of the most important contributors to their hot 2019 start were on full display in the 8-3 victory.

Hyun-Jin Ryu was masterful once again, upping his scoreless innings streak to 31 after going seven innings against the Reds. Ryu moved to 6-1 with the win and jumped into first place in Major League Baseball with a 1.52 ERA.

Ryu’s last four starts:

  • 32 innings
  • 26 strikeouts
  • 2 walks
  • 1 earned run

Meanwhile, Cody Bellinger continued his quest for the NL triple crown by hitting his 17th home run of the season. He is first in batting average, RBIs, and on-base percentage. And he’s just two homers behind Christian Yelich.

Monday is a travel day for the Dodgers, as they open a midweek series in Tampa Bay tomorrow. First pitch is at 4:10 with Clayton Kershaw on the mound. Catch every inning live on your hometown station KHTS 98.1 FM.
