Deputies and KHTS Radio are encouraging any witnesses to Friday night’s crash as a result of possible street racing to come forward.
At 10:17 p.m. Friday, first responders received reports of a traffic collision near the intersection of Railroad Avenue and Market Street in Newhall, per Los Angeles County Fire Department officials.
At the scene a vehicle was found that had crashed into the back gate of KHTS Radio facing Railroad Avenue. Multiple concrete pillars and the new electric gate, which had only recently been installed, sustained major damage, costing “in the thousands,” according to KHTS owner Jeri Seratti-Goldman.
“(We were told a) DUI driver ran into the fence behind KHTS on Railroad,” Serrati-Goldman said in a video taken Saturday morning. “Our brand-new electric gate, I can’t even shut it.”
The accident is believed to be connected to street racing in the area.
Initial reports were that at least two vehicles had been seen street racing in the moments leading up to the crash, according to information passed to Serrati-Goldman.
Law enforcement is looking into at least one other vehicle, identified as a SUV, in connection with the incident
KHTS is asking for anyone with information on the incident, the vehicles involved, or the occupants to contact the KHTS radio station’s newsroom at 661-298-1220 or law enforcement.
