Woman Arrested In Intersection After Foot Pursuit, Struggle In Santa Clarita

A woman was arrested on Monday by deputies in the middle of a major Santa Clarita intersection after a pursuit and struggle with deputies.

At around 4:45 p.m. Monday, deputies responded to a call involving a woman suffering a medical emergency on Golden Valley Road and Center Pointe Drive.

“Upon arrival deputies determined the female patient was under the influence of narcotics,” said the SCV Sheriff’s Station in a statement.

The woman was uncooperative with deputies who tried to detain her, and fled on foot into the intersection and oncoming traffic. According to the sheriff’s station, a brief struggle between the woman and a deputy ensued.

Video from the incident show that the woman may have been tased as well.

Deputies were able to detain the woman after she was tased and sustained minor injuries. After being cleared of injuries she was booked into the station for being under the influence of narcotics and battery on a peace officer officials say.

A use of force investigation is ongoing, according to sheriff officials. Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to contact SCV Sheriff’s Station at 661-260-4000. Anonymous tips can be submitted by calling 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
