Santa Clarita Crime Report is a service provided by KHTS Radio and Santa Clarita Sheriffs as a part of Santa Clarita Neighborhoods.

KHTS Safety Tip: As you age your chance of becoming a crime victim decreases dramatically. Life experience in addition to mental and physical deterioration can cause the elderly to become more fearful. Use common sense precautions when out-and-about such as sticking with trusted friends and family. Ensure car doors are locked. Carry along what you need and leave behind what you don’t. This includes carrying only as much cash as you’ll need, and leaving behind extra credit cards. Be alert in parking lots and parking structures. Park as close to entrances as possible. On public transport, sit close to the driver or near an exit. Trust your intuition if an individual makes you uneasy.

MAKE AN ONLINE POLICE REPORT

The following incidents can be reported online:

  • Lost or stolen cell phone valued $950 or less

Public Safety: It can take seconds for a thief to steal something from your car, so never leave valuables inside. Most vehicle crime is preventable. Don’t make your car a target for thieves by leaving sought-after items such as purses, wallets, laptop computers and cell phones in plain view. Always check you have closed all your windows and locked the doors before leaving your car unattended. While there’s no surefire way to totally prevent your car from being broken into, keeping these tips in mind can make your car less of a target.
