In the debut broadcast of “The Inspirational Parent” on KHTS, Santa Clarita life coach Alex Urbina discussed his new book of the same name, and how you can be an inspirational parent to your children.

According to Urbina, the concept is that inside of every parent, there is a path you can tap into interpersonally to become the inspirational parent your kids need.
“It seems to be this typical model of the controlling-style parent that we adopt when we’re young parents, because it’s the best that we know and we just take all of our knowledge and wisdom in life,” Urbina says. “We think to ourselves, ‘Oh I got this — how hard could it be to parent a child when they’re little … and course-correct them?”
Urbina, a transformational Santa Clarita life coach for over 23 years, suggests parents allow themselves to be flexible in their parenting styles.

He continues, “At a certain point, the controlling-style parent model starts to die out and it starts to become a roadblock in the next level of parenting when it comes to young teens, and then teenagers and young adults.”
“The conscious parent realizes that we have to start creating a new style of parenting, more like a coaching model,” states Urbina.
The model of the inspirational parent helps parents reinvent themselves so that their children still want to come to them to involve them in their life, and teaches parents how to ask open-ended questions as a means to achieve a multi-dimensional relationship.
“The inspirational parenting model is more about asking the questions,” Urbina concludes. “It’s about helping you draw some of the answers out from within, while you’re putting out answers and giving them solutions.”
Urbina’s new book, “The Inspirational Parent: The Magical Ingredients for Effective Parenting” is set to be released on Amazon on Aug. 8.
