Santa Clarita Life Coach Alex Urbina: How To Avoid Getting ‘Stuck’ On Things

Santa Clarita Life Coach Alex Urbina is offering his insight into how people can avoid getting “stuck” on things in their everyday life, and instead get “off” of it and let it go.

“Some of us get stuck on things, like our current state of circumstances and the emotions that are tied to those circumstances,” Urbina explained. “Sometimes things will happen to us in our lives and we can get stuck on it and the psychological resistance to not wanting it or wondering why it’s happening. We go to the, ‘Why me?’”

In contrast, other people have learned how to get “off” these types of circumstances and emotions by allowing them to happen, accepting that it’s happening and then choosing to let it go, according to Urbina.

“Once you learn how to get yourself off of something where you’re not resisting it anymore and you’re allowing it to happen, unfold in front of you, the greatest feeling is learning how to embrace it, dance with it and then spin it off,” he said. “What an amazing feeling that is when you are in control of that way of being.”

One way Urbina helps people achieve this is by pointing out the reality that whatever the circumstance, it is “supposed to” be happening, because it is.

For example, if someone had tickets to their favorite concert but was stuck in bumper-to-bumper traffic and knew they couldn’t make it in time, Urbina said he would tell them that they are supposed to be stuck in that traffic, so they can relax instead of getting upset.

“In your mind, you’re thinking, ‘What do you mean I’m supposed to be (in traffic)? No, I’m supposed to be at the concert,’” Urbina said. “And I say to you, ‘No. How do I know for a fact that you’re supposed to be stuck in traffic right now, without me guessing or any other way? What’s the plain and simple fact that you’re supposed to be stuck in traffic in that moment? Because you are.”

Urbina went on to note that most people don’t realize that everything in their life happens because it is supposed to, and they can find peace in the knowledge that it is supposed to happen because it is, in fact, happening.

Though most people naturally gravitate toward telling themselves they don’t want it to be happening or it shouldn’t be happening, Urbina pointed out that they can learn how to change their perspective.

“It’s all psychologically in your mind, being in resistance to it being just the way it is,” he said. “So for those of us that can train ourselves to accept that what is happening is supposed to be happening — how do I know, because it is — then we can free ourselves up to allow it to unfold organically so that it runs its course and then moves on its way.”

Urbina continued, “So you have to learn how to embrace whatever’s happening in that moment. And then once you embrace it, you’ve got to learn how to dance with it, and while you’re dacning with it, at a certain point, you surrender it. You let it go. You get off of it.”
