A mama bear and her cub have been spotted in a tree in Castaic Wednesday afternoon, officials said.
Around 2:30 p.m., 9-1-1 operators received multiple calls regarding a bear on Oak Valley Road in Castaic, said Shirley Miller, a spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.
“We had multiple reports of a mama bear and her cub in a tree,” Miller said.
Deputies are currently on scene and have requested Department of Fish and Wildlife officials to respond.

The bears will only be tranquilized the animals becomes a threat to deputies or the public, according to Sheriff’s officials.
This is the seventh bear spotted in the Santa Clarita Valley this year. Between May 5 and May 16, Santa Clarita residents reported sightings of bears all over the valley, according to officials.
