Severed Dog Head Found In Valencia

A severed dog head was found on Promontory Lane in Valencia Wednesday night, officials said.

Just before 8 p.m. Wednesday night, it was reported that the severed head of a dog was found on the ground near a missing dog poster on Promontory Lane in Valencia.

“The deputy on scene advises that the dog may have been attacked by another animal,” said Sergeant Barkon with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station. “Though it is bizarre the dog head ended up where it is.”

The dog head is said to have been found near a missing dog poster.

“We can’t rule out any kind of illegal act that may have been done to this dog,” the Sergeant added. “That’s why it is suspicious and we are making a Possible Criminal Report.”

The dog head does not seem to have been severed by a tool, and the tear is consistent with an animal mauling, according to Sgt. Barkon.

Officials were unable to confirm if the severed head that was discovered resembled the missing dog described in the poster as of Wednesday night.

As of 9 p.m. officials with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station are still on scene investigating, awaiting officials from Animal Control, according to Sgt. Barkon.
