Fair attendees are encouraged to vote on the first three days of the Fair in the following categories: Favorite food, Dessert and Non-alcoholic beverage.

All votes will be entered in a drawing for a chance to win a Family 4-pack of Fair Admission tickets. People’s Choice Fair Food Competition Ballots will be available Aug. 18 through 20 at all participating food concession stands and are to be turned in at the Antelope Valley Press InFAIRmation booth by 10pm on Sunday, August 20th.

Winners will be announced on Aug. 21.

A number of A.V. Fair 2017 food concessionaires have entered the 3rd Annual A.V. Fair Food Competition.

Seven categories of food will be judged: Tastiest Fair Food, Tastiest Fair Dessert, Most Creative & Tasty New Item (non-dessert), Most Creative and Tasty New Dessert, Best Fried Food (non-dessert), Tastiest Item on a Stick, and Most Refreshing Drink (non-alcoholic).

Food entries will be presented to judges in the same fashion as they are served to the public.

To date, this year’s panel of judges include Craig Altman: Adelman Broadcasting, Patrick & Christine Bonas: Rally Auto Group, Joe Cabral: City of Lancaster, Brian Chase: High Desert Broadcasting, Mitchell Chase: Charter/Spectrum News, Don Fredette: KSSI 102.1FM, Donna Giddens: Antelope Valley Press, Belinda Hurtado: High Desert Broadcasting, Josh Mann: Waste Management, Penny Stone: A.V. Florist/AVnice.com, and Anna Zarley: Lancaster Chamber of Commerce.  Each judge will be provided with a 2-bite sample, and one full serving of each item will be displayed for presentation purposes. Judging criteria includes:  Appearance, Flavor and Texture/Consistency. Winners will be notified at their booth on August 21st and awarded a rosette to display for the duration of the Fair. The Overall Grand Prize winner will receive a trophy and rosette. For all A.V. Fairground’s information go to: www.avfair.com.
