Hollywood Bowl Summer Season Opens With New Rules Following Pandemic Closures

This summer, Santa Clarita Valley residents are slated to once again be able to join the rest of Los Angeles County at the Hollywood Bowl, after a year of COVID-19 shutdowns, for the venue’s newest season of concerts and shows scheduled this year.

The Hollywood Bowl will reportedly feature a new summer season of shows and concerts after about a year of closures due to COVID-19, although the venue has several new safety guidelines, Hollywood Bowl officials said in a statement.

“We are thrilled to share our exciting lineup for the Hollywood Bowl summer season,” Hollywood Bowl officials said. “From world premieres and orchestral favorites with Gustavo and the LA Phil to epic movie nights, pop, jazz, Bowl traditions and a lineup of top international acts, there is a special night out for all tastes.”

The new, slightly shorter season of concerts at the venue will feature a few changes to its rules that its patrons are encouraged to observe.

“For the 2021 season starting in July, the Hollywood Bowl is designating the majority of all concert seats to fully vaccinated patrons and limiting total capacity to 67 percent,” the venue’s website explains. “Total capacity will continue to follow public health guidelines throughout the season. Proof of vaccination and photo ID will be required upon entry. Fully vaccinated seating sections will not be socially distanced.”

For attendees who are not vaccinated, the Hollywood Bowl will reportedly have two seating sections both requiring social distancing.

“Guests will be required to show a negative COVID-19 test result and a photo ID upon entry,” the venue’s safety information page states regarding the non-vaccinated section.

Patrons wishing to bring children under 16, many of whom either have not been vaccinated or are not yet allowed, also have specific guidelines listed.

“Children age 2 or more who are not eligible to be vaccinated may sit with their parent, guardian or sponsor in the Fully Vaccinated-only sections if they have tested negative,” the venue’s safety information page reads. “Children younger than 2 do not need to be tested and may sit with their parent, guardian or sponsor in the Fully Vaccinated-only section.”

As usual, the venue requires patrons older than 2 to wear a mask, keep six feet apart from others and to stay home if any COVID-19 symptoms are observed.

This season at the Hollywood Bowl has scheduled several prominent performances, including Christina Aguilera, Gustavo Dudamel, the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Yo-Yo Ma, Kool & the Gang and John Williams.

For more information on concert dates, safety guidelines or prices, patrons should visit the venue’s website.
