Two Teens Arrested For Felony Vandalism At Magic Mountain After Posting Video On Social Media

Two teens were arrested on Friday for felony vandalism after posting a video on social media showing a group of teens breaking into Six Flags Magic Mountain and causing damage.

A video posted to TikTok shows the group entering the park after hours then climbing to the top of the Sky Tower, discharging fire extinguishers and dangling off the edge of the over 300-foot tower.

On Aug. 17, deputies took a report for vandalism and trespassing that allegedly occurred about five days earlier at Six Flags Magic Mountain, according to Shirley Miller, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

“The vandalism involved large amounts of paint,” Miller said. “There were also some items damaged including a large trash can and chair.”

The total estimated damage at the time of the report was over $3,000, according to Miller

“Six Flags Magic Mountain has a zero-tolerance for this type of behavior and we will prosecute to the fullest extent of the law. The safety of our employees and parks is our utmost priority, even during this closure,” said Sue Carpenter, spokesperson for the park.

Through their investigation, Career Offender, Burglary, Robbery and Assault (COBRA) detectives identified suspects in connection to the incident.

On Friday, Aug. 28, Riley Birchfield, 19, of Saugus, and Dylan Gody, 19 of Valencia, were arrested on felony vandalism charges in connection with the incident. The incident still remains under investigation, according to Miller.

Both suspects were booked at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station, then released.

  1. Who wrote this and who edited it? Was it paint or fire extinguishers? When did police reports for future events start happening. How can it happen after hours when the Park has been closed since March? They are over 18 which makes them chargeable as adults not teens….This was a gimme article, do better! This would get an F in journalism class.

    • Someone Who Actually Read The Story

First of all, TEEN is in 19. Second, maybe it was both paint and fire extinguishers. And if you actually read and comprehended the story, it clearly said they broke into Magic Mountain. Of course it is closed. You would get an F in reading comprehension

      • Not Buying What You're Selling

Yes but “teens” is misleading. When I hear “teen”, I think of a kid. A 19-year old is an adult. I understand that in today’s day and age of “children” living in their indulgent parent’s basement until they are 35, 19 does still seem like a baby, but sorry, they aren’t babies… just loser adults.

As far as the editing goes, I like the part of the story that says that a police report was made for trespassing and vandalism that took place 5 days later. That’s a nice trick.

      • The article says ‘after hours’. What does that mean since there are no hours?
How does the report get filed and the event then happened 5 days later??
        I’m with Rebecca on this.

    • Miss, ( I am assuming.)

They are still teenagers to start. NineTEEN, so you are incorrect on that. They did no make reports or the future, it happened 5 days earlier. So to help you better understand, 5days earlier means it already happened 5 days ago. So again, incorrect. Even if the park is closed that is still after hours. Once again, incorrect. And lastly, maybe they used both pain AND fire extinguishers. I think YOU have earned yourself an F in comprehension.

  2. We’re they defacing/graffiti of BLM?!!!

  3. Thank you for no tolerance! They should be responsible for their actions and judges need to fine, have them clean up, and do plenty of community service not together! Time to pay the piper kids! Why don’t you try to make a difference than having your 15 minutes of fame destroying property. Magic Mtn. needs to ban you from their park also permanently!

  4. Not only should 6 Flags ban them for life but Disney and Knotts should show solidarity and ban them for life from their properties as well. That would show them!!

  5. Me and a friend both have season classes and go as much as possable the teens that did this deserve every day/cent fine they get you get then sfmm will always love super man 1 of the best u have at the park

  6. I think they meant 5 days later after the crime happened, but yes a bit confusing the way they wrote it.

  7. Proofreading is key.

“ On Aug. 17, deputies took a report for a vandalism and trespassing that allegedly occurred about five days later ”

I’m sorry, what? They took a report for a future event. That’s magical.

Again proofreading is key. Do better.

  8. They are 19yo hooligans. Not exactly mature adults and they no there is no excuse for their prank and crimes. They will get slapped on the hand. They will be punished will be punished with hopefully 250 hours of graffiti removal community service each and pay restitution to our beloved park. Permanent ban is in order and they can still endure rehabilitation. 19 is a young age and some compassion should be extended for our uneducated youth. Tiktok should be held responsible for allowing this content to be uploaded however is they are in compliance with the investigation then no liability should exist. Every kid makes mistakes and a public apologize is warranted live broadcast to prove humility. Parents can only be accountable for the actions of their adolescent youth til age of consent and I seek justice for the community as well as a fair trial for these kids with their brief moment of juvenile insanity. It’s not easy for anyone dealing with stress and peer pressure to get some traffic on social media. If you brats read this article…shame on you for being punks and get your acts together because the future depends on you guys and if you keep going down this path less travelled you will eventually become victims of police brutality, in jail on a permanent vacation or dead. So y’all know they need some help, guidance and correction.

  9. Make their parents pay for it.

Without penalty, and with quick release from jail, criminals will never learn from their mistakes.

  10. Where is the video?
