The opening night festivities are set to be presided over by the locally famous, Southern California news broadcaster Fritz Coleman. Coleman, a well-known comic, spent his forty-year career at NBC before retiring from his role as a weathercaster.
An interesting feature of this years’ festival is that a selection of the films are to be available to stream online. Of the 100 short films obtained for the festival, approximately 30 are in preparation to be screened virtually all over the world.
Of the submissions to the festival, the content ranges all over the map, from comedy, to religion, to drama, and more. If you are a true film connoisseur with an appreciation for visual arts, this is the festival to attend.
The opening night feature film that is scheduled to kick off the weekend is Drew Dickler and Jake Hochendoner’s “Fireboys.” The feature-length film focuses on the lives of the incarcerated youth at the Pine Grove Conservation Camp east of Sacramento. The young men in this film have a unique opportunity- building a career as a wildfire fighter.
