“It’s hard for people to get up to Sacramento to discuss the things they care about, so July is a great time to get together and meet with people,” Assemblyman Wilk said.
At the beginning of August, Assemblyman Wilk will have to travel back up to Sacramento in order to speak on behalf of his constituents. There will be three pieces of legislation in Sacramento that will be going through the Health Committee and the Business and Professions Committee.
These pieces of legislation will focus on the scope of practice of optometrists, nurse practitioners and pharmacists. Earlier this week, Assemblyman Wilk said that he met with a local optometrist and a group of nurse practitioners. He does this so that he can rely on people who are knowledgable about those topics.
Assemblyman Wilk said that there will be another Town Hall Meeting on Tuesday, July 30 at 5:30 pm. The Town Hall Meeting will take place at the Santa Clarita Activities Center. It will focus on the Affordable Care Act, which aims to increase the affordability of health insurance and reduce the costs of health care.

Chuck Rosen of the California Association of Health Underwriters will be at the Town Hall Meeting in order to better inform people of the Affordable Care Act.
“I have not met anyone more knowledgeable on the ACA than Chuck,” Assemblyman Wilk said.
As one of Assemblyman Wilk’s constituents, Rosen will explain to the attendees the changes that are to be brought about by the Affordable Care Act. Assemblyman Wilk wants people to know how the Affordable Care Act will affect them and answer questions that people may have.
“This is kind of a public service type thing so people can get empowered by having the knowledge,” Assemblyman Wilk said.
