Australian Casino Says Their Largest US Customer Base Is From California

It’s always weird to hear foreigners talk about California, because in most cases they have nothing good to say about it. But this time, one Australian casino has announced that a large majority of their United States customer base comes exactly from California, and a small chunk of it from none other than Santa Clarita.

According to the casino’s announcement, even though the customers are using US-based IP addresses their nationality is still Australian, which brings in question which district or neighborhood from Santa Clarita may be involved.

It’s reasonable to believe that it’s Valencia, but that’s just pure speculation. All we can use is the comment of the regional manager.

The US regional manager of Playamo Australia, Anthony Becker mentioned:

“It was quite surprising to find out that the largest majority of US clients come from California, given how close they are to Nevada. We were expecting most customers to come from Eastern and South-Eastern states like Florida or Alabama, but California was definitely not on our minds.

But, numbers are numbers and we’re happy to have covered a market we weren’t expecting to excel at in the first place. We will most definitely conduct further research to find out where exactly these customers are coming from, but for the sake of their anonymity and per our privacy policies at Playamo, their identities will most definitely not be disclosed.

What we can say is that most of the people coming from the Santa Clarita region are Australian nationals that have moved there not too long ago, as we had the same accounts be accessed from various other countries as well.

It’s likely that these customers are new settlers in the region. In the future, we may use this data to conduct some campaigns, but the US law prevents that from happening. It’s still nice to see that we have some Aussie Americans logging onto the platform though.”

Why could this be happening?

One reason why California has become such a large market for this casino is because of the declining popularity of land-based casinos in Las Vegas, or just the insurmountable cost of enjoying it.

Most people, when they travel to Nevada, have to take into account the costs of traveling, the costs of accommodation and food in the hotels. Most young Americans don’t have what it takes to reach these heights, and therefore prefer to go for online gambling from their couch, rather than drive hundreds of miles for it.
