UPDATE: Containment, School Lockdowns Lifted With Potential Armed Suspect Still At-Large

As of 1:45 p.m. Tuesday, the containment and school lockdowns have been lifted, with the suspect still at-large, according to officials.

“The containment has been taken down and the schools have been taken off of lockdown,” said Shirley Miller, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station. “The suspect potentially did get out of the area.”

FIRST REPORT: Deputies are currently searching for a man with a gun in Saugus, prompting nearby schools to be put on lockdown.

Around 11:15 a.m. in the 27000 block of Seco Canyon Road, a deputy spotted a suspect who allegedly had a gun and fled into a nearby yard, according to officials.

A containment has been put into place near Seco Canyon Road and Decoro Drive while deputies, K-9 search dogs and deputies from the air search for the suspect.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, wearing a black t-shirt and dark jeans.

Nearby schools, such as Santa Clarita Elementary and Arroyo Seco Junior High, have been placed on lockdown as a precaution.

“Arroyo Seco is on a soft lockdown. We’re in contact with the Sheriff’s department, but students and teachers are safe,” said Dave Caldwell, spokesperson for the William S. Hart Union High School District.

Residents who live near this area are urged to stay inside and lock all doors and windows.

  1. Hope they catch this guy soon. A lot of people will be losing sleep tonight. Prayers to all the men and women in SCV doing their best to protect us.

  2. From what I’ve heard the suspect lives in the 27000 block of Seco, is on parole, is wanted and considered armed and dangerous. Why hasn’t LASD released his name and photo so we that live in the area will know who he is if we see him? There should be no confidentiality for a scumbag like this!

  3. BUILD THE DAMN WALL !!!!!!

    • Thank you! Its always the same race of people lately except for the white nutcases shooting up schools, but we have enough trouble dealing with them. We don’t need more criminals from other countries.

      • Your comment is to funny but I’m guessing since you clearly know nothing thus far about the whites shooting up schools telling you now will do no good IGNORANCE IS NOT BLISS!

Build the damn wall and hire more ICE agents and vote all democrats out! Oh wait ballot harvesting I forgot!

  4. Perhaps more signs stating “this is a gun free zone” will prevent situations like this. NOTE: but by all means don’t arm anyone on campus. Criminals will always respect your signs #sitting-ducks supported by the left!

About Louie Diaz

Louie was born and raised in Santa Clarita. At the age of two Louie lost his vision due to a brain tumor. However, Louie doesn't let blindness stop him from doing what ever it is he wants to accomplish. Growing up some of his favorite hobbies were wood working, fishing and riding bikes. Louie graduated from College of the Canyon in December of 2017, with a Broadcast Journalism degree. Growing up Louie has always wanted to be a fire fighter or a police officer, but because of his blindness Louie knew that wouldn't work. Louie has always loved listening to police and fire radio traffic, using a scanner, and he figured if he was going to listen to the scanner so much, he should do something with it.
