UPDATE: Found Inmate Clothing Prompts Search At Pitchess Detention Center In Castaic

Articles of clothing, consistent with an inmate, found outside Pitchess Detention Center in Castaic Wednesday has prompted a search inside the jail facility, officials said.

Preliminary counts at all three jail facilities indicate inmates accounted for, and there is not an escapee. Out of an abundance of caution, there is expected to be extra patrols units in area.

At around 2:25 p.m. Wednesday, a citizen reported finding an inmate’s clothing near Hasley Canyon Road and The Old Road in Castaic, according to Shirley Miller, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

“Until we have an account of all inmates, we encourage our residents in nearby areas to take standard safety precautions,” Miller said. “Make sure your exterior doors are locked, windows shut. Call our station immediately to report any suspicious persons.”

It is unknown as of 3:20 p.m. if there has been an escape, according to Sheriff’s officials.

The detention center is conducting a count of all of the inmates in the facility, officials said.

  1. Hmmm, interesting. Don’t believe inmate-wear is the a thing right now-can’t imagine an extra set of inmate clothing was simply dumped on the side of the road. Better make sure that the inmates they have are who they are supposed to be.

  2. They are now claiming that the clothes are from an escape in Feb. I am not sure how you could confuse clothing thats been sitting out for months with clothing that had JUST been discarded. And the part of the story they are leaving out is that the search was prompted after my friends car window was smashed in and possessions stolen in the Ralphs parking lot. HIGHLY suspicious loop hole in this story.

  3. The imnmate cannot escape from the jail its impossible

  4. Nothings impossible when freedoms at the other side of the wall

  5. Pitchess Detention Center sounds like such a mess…
