Two Hospitalized After Pickup Truck Careens Off 14 Freeway In Newhall

Two people were transported to a local hospital early Saturday morning after a pickup truck careened off the 14 Freeway in Newhall, officials said.

At about 4:11 a.m. Saturday, officials with the Los Angeles County Fire Department along with California Highway Patrol received a call of a pickup truck in an embankment just south of Newhall Ave near Los Pinitos Road off the 14 Freeway.

“The call was a vehicle into an embankment,” said a dispatcher for the Los Angeles County Fire Department. “Two people were transported.”

The pickup truck, said to be a Ford F-350, careened off the freeway and bounced back up the other side before plunging over 100 feet, said officials on scene.

There were no other vehicles involved, according to Fire officials.

The two occupants, an adult male and female, were extracted from the truck by CHP officers.

The victims were treated for unspecified injuries and transported to a local trauma center.

It was unknown if alcohol or drugs contributed to the crash, according to the CHP.

CHP Newhall was investigating the incident as of Saturday morning.
