Gymboree is set to close 900 clothing stores, but the “Play and Music” locations — including one in Santa Clarita — are not expected to be impacted, officials said Tuesday.

Santa Clarita store officials confirmed the announced closure is not going to affect the Gymboree in the Westfield Valencia Town Center Mall.

“Our store is not impacted by the closures,” said an employee at the Santa Clarita location. “Only the clothing stores are going to be shut down.”

Company officials announced last month their intention of “significantly reducing” the number of Gymboree store locations in 2019, according to a corporate statement.

Gymboree Group, which also includes Janie and Jack and Crazy 8, is in the process of a company revaluation, with some media outlets reporting all 900 clothing stores are set to be closed.

“We are optimistic about our future as a more streamlined organization that can deliver enhanced, long-term value to its stakeholders,” said Shaz Kahng, Gymboree Group CEO. “Our team remains focused on delivering the quality children’s clothing and accessories and exceptional service that our customers have come to expect from us.”

The Santa Clarita location is a “Play & Music” store, meaning they offer classes for children ranging from infants to 5 years old.

“Classes are designed in six-month increments to continue to meet a child’s growing interests and abilities,” according to their website.
