Officials from an IT company in Santa Clarita are gearing up to speak at a Cyber Security Summit for local businesses held by the SCV Chamber of Commerce.

Set for Wednesday, Nov. 6 from 7:30-11:30 a.m., with the location to be determined, Resurgence IT is preparing to help educate business executives and members of upper management on taking action against cyber risks, according to Owner Jeremy Stepan. 

“I find that too many businesses still have got their head in the sand and they don’t want to accept the reality that we live in,” he said. “We’ve got to make changes. We’ve got to do things to protect ourselves.”

Resurgence IT specializes in helping businesses protect themselves against cyber threats by “looking forward” on behalf of their clients.

Many of the large-scale security breaches publicized in the media recently were a result of failed computer software or security updates, which are two components that Resurgence IT staff members monitor closely for their clients, according to Stepan. 

“We’re getting alerts on our system every day, so every day we’ll see if a computer is out of date on virus protection or if computers aren’t getting their updates,” he said. “We’re pushing those on a weekly basis when they come out so we’re ahead of that game.”
